That is definitely a sign of the times....whoda thunk it, the new builders don't know James...
He was this guy we all once new, who was building a 10, did not know what spell check was, liked to post to tell everyone what he did and also take a billion photo's, had a webcam setup in the garage so we could spy on him...then he up and disappeared on us, sold his kit, dropped the back seat idea and converted to one of them there sports models of the RV type. Must have had a mid-life crisis, you know the type, gets a sports car, dyes his hair and trolls for hanger chicks?
Has anyone heard from him and his progress on the 7? Because he is not posting on the RV-list either.

James...A pure legend in the RV web posting history...Actually talked to him a few times and a really nice guy on the phone. Had his own company but never worked on anything but the RV-10. We had his kids B-day parties, knew when he was sick....sorta like a one man big brother show. He could misspell words so bad that you could not tell what they were....At least you can tell what Deems is trying to type!! Smile

I think his wife finally found the checkbook and saw how much he was spending and put the kabash...not to be confused with Quicks Draws KABONG on the whole idea....he still needed to learn how to fly once he finished up the RV so maybe that might have had something to do with his demise as well.

For the archivally (or is that archaically) impaired young kids on this list today, James McClow was builder extraordinaire of kit #191 and promptly sold it to Jim Riley when his “supportive” wife went home to Vermont at Thanksgiving 2005 (and cut him off). he was pationate, hedstrong, reelentless, grammarically unik and bold enuf to have a live motion controlled webcam in his garage so you could watch what could be accomplished with passion, pliers, long screwdriver and a good 24 oz. hammer. Oh, yeh, he always built in shorts and tshirt just like Tim – only it was from Seminole, FL.

In the early days of build, back during the era of the covered wagons and Indian attacks the only other progress to watch was Randy Debauw and John Hilger building the first “By the Plans” flying kit which that young upstart – Tim Olson, in the frozen north with “Sergeant Preston of the Yukon” would post with a string and tin can for lost travelers looking for the clear path to nirvana (not the musical group).

Bob was a bit off...it was actually 71 yesterday and shooting for about 74 today. I saw no bikini clad women but there was an abundance of flip flops which for classic pump fans, sucks.

For those of you stuck in the cooler climates...feel lucky!!!! My West Systems epoxy pot life is much worse than yours..I only have 30 minutes of work time where your mix should last all night!! Wink

This is the time of year we like to play outside...July and August are just plain hot..not like Airzona hot but still hot. Oh well....out to water the lawn. Is it true you can toss a glass of water in the air and make snow when it's real cold like that?

My hot coffee in a insulated mug started to freeze in about 30 minutes when I was working on my workshop Sunday. The cold isn't bad, it's the wind that really sucks! I won't even try to start my diesel truck in this weather without a preheat. It will start without it, it just won't be happy about it. I'll still take it over the Texas heat. The Super Bowl would have been a much more interesting game if they would have had it in Green Bay. Ice Bowl II

6 below and almost back to t-shirt weather. Very Happy

Finally, someone asked the question. I always thought James was a guy who had been building a -10 then up and died and left the group in deep depression. This must have happened right before I got on the list, which was just about the time of the mass exodus from the yahoo list that I heard so many horror stories about in the beginning. OK, so now I know.

It is not Bush's
fault!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It is the people who kept voting for him.

As I drive my Toyota Prius, I am just amazed at the Cadillac Escalades
driving around with no plates because the car was just recently purchased.

We share the world and the resources, we shouldn't think that just because
we can afford to have the most wasteful things we should use them up.

Think about the kids, then think about what left of your life.

I still have hopefully forty more years. I think we have a real war that is
brewing and it has nothing to do with oil, religion or politcal views.

I think I we are going to get to see some real BIG changes. Where is my
Hydrogen powerred RV10??

If it flew slower we could make zeplins fly next to us for a constant source
of fuel.

Don't know if it's Bush's fault, but wild temp swings are abnormal - it was
60 in January in MI and now it's -10.

Too cold to work in the shop - even with our new wood-fired furnace.

It's a HOT 68 here in Tulsa, just about warm enough to finish melting
off the 6 inches of ice and 14 inches of snow we had 2 weeks ago. I
haven't seen the white stuff last this long on the ground in about 20
years. We're thinking about going camping this weekend. Smile

I remember a TV story a few years back about a family that was going thru
some hard times. Seems the father was about to be laid off from a Ford or GM
plant in Michigan. They were interviewing the wife in her front yard as she
leaving for the market. There was a new VW Vanagon, a newer Mercedes Benz in
her driveway as she got into her Volvo and left.
Something wrong with that picture TOO. KABONG Do Not Archive

You folks up over should note that we had a cold snap here downunder
during the last 24 hours, with the temperature plummeting to 60F!
We're expecting a cloudless sunny day at around 79F today and hopefully
by the weekend it will be back up into the 90's. Great weather if you

Yah, but what about six months from now.

I like that official weather explanation...."FINE"

Like, she's just "FINE"

You folks up over should note that we had a cold snap here downunder
during the last 24 hours, with the temperature plummeting to 60F!
We're expecting a cloudless sunny day at around 79F today and hopefully
by the weekend it will be back up into the 90's. Great weather if you
like a cold beer or a swim!
