Folks,
I have a right roll tendency in my 6A that I can't seem to trim out...even solo. The ailerons are even on the ground, but I can see them out of trail (right turn) when I let go of the stick.
Is this the infamous "Heavy-Wing"?
Any other ideas?

Gotta be something far out on the wing, maybe wing tip. They were pretty floppy and warped back in the day.Â

 Hi gang. It's been several years since I replied on the list, so I don't know who will get this. Regarding mysterious roll and/or yaw tendencies, always remember to consider
the possibility that imperfect adjustment main gear leg fairings can produce imbalances in the aerodynamics of an RV aircraft. I'm just sayin'.....
ALSO, does anyone have experience with the installation of a single or two axis autopilot in an RV-3. I am ready to buy one that has no A/P. I installed one in my RV-4 25 years
and would not want to be without one now that I'm 82 yo. Has anyone installed a servo under the seat or anywhere other than in the wing/wingtip?

I will try flying without the gearleg fairings...
I will check the wing for consistency as well. I have Johensen tiptanks instead of the floppy tips...

I wouldn’t fly without the fairings. Van has a system, using twine, to adjust the geometry of the fairings to a uniform, neutral, and aerodynamic position. I would check the current geometry using this system. If this is off, make the necessary adjustments. If this is correct, would make a tiny adjustment in one or the other to give A bit of yaw to the right. I would probably twist the trailing edge of the right gear leg 1/8 to 1/4 inch towards the left( towards the fuselage). If I’m wrong about the direction to make the twist, you will know right away. I have now exhausted all of my knowledge on this subject. Please wait for replies to my advice. I could be way off base on the core to your problem. I’m basing my thoughts on the results of a bird strike to my gear leg fairing after 10 hours of TT. I fixed the fairing and eyeballed the proper twist. I had a heavy wing thereafter and did the pinching to aeleron as suggested by some. I even made a temp trim tab. Nothing worked, until the light went on in my head about the importance of proper setting of the fairings. A little twist solved the problems. I then made some permanent marks on the gear leg and fairing so that I could always replace them properly after my conditional inspection. I hope I didn’t create fireworks. Good luck.
