I fly a Series 5 tail dragger & have decided to upgrade my transponder to make the plane ADS-B Compliant; My existing GPS antenna is not WAAS so I've got to add a 2nd one; Where is the best place to mount it?

I have mine mounted in the center of the skylight, beside the GPS antenna for my KLX-135A.  I am using the Appero ESG transponder.

The GPS antenna needs a ground plane. We mounted ours 3 feet from the comm antenna, on the bottom on an aluminum plate secured with clamps, to the frame,  tested out fine.
 Safe flying,
 Grant

I should have said,  the adsb antenna needs a ground plain because it transmits.
 Sorry for the mistake.

It depends what unit you install. If you do one of the uAvionics
products, either wingtip or tail, they include the GPS and you won't
need another antenna. Of course if you didn't install nav lights to
begin with, might be extra effort to run the power lead.
