I have found some nice mountable blade fuse holders that I am using for some
1-2 Amp fuses. (As in trim and Alt. Out light.)
Would it be OK to use (good quality) insulated spade connectors or should
the connections be soldered?

Ed,

I used a number of Amp spade connectors on my RV-6. They have the double barrel that supports both the wire and the and the wire insulation. They have not given any problems.
