I'm looking for some advice about build sequence. Should the wings be made prior to the slats / flaperons, vice versa, or is it unimportant? I read ahead in the manual but nothing jumped out at me saying one needs to come first. Any advice from those that have already been there would be great.
The tail section is nearly done and I'm looking to move to the next component - and I'm just trying to figure out what to do next.

I built the wings first. That sets the distance between the pickup points for the slats. Those attach points cannot change once the wing is complete but the slats do telescope when assembling so you have a little control on how they mate to the wing. The flaperons are the same way, except they don't telescope. You can trim the butt ends where the splice plate goes to fine tune any issues though.. Just my opinion

I agree with Ben on this, wings first. Murphy says to do it the other way
is a sure guarantee that you'll be a few mm. too much off on the slats.
The flaperons would still fit even off by 10 mm as much flex as the
arms have.
I built the wings first, then built the slats and flaperons to fit. I also aligned
the flaperons on the wing, rather than using the Zenith prescribed method.
Everything fit together perfectly that way. The Zenith methods, leave a
LOT of room for unfixable error in my opinion.
Now back to the real beast, those front side skins. I did find a method
for that that worked perfectly, but isn't going to be acceptable so I'll
end up redoing it again. I annealed the bend area with a propane torch,
and got a perfect fit by hand bending. HOWEVER that's going to leave
the tensile strength too low. SO I'll either pitch the panel, or figure out
a way to double the area to regain stiffness. Anyway the panel I used
was wrinkled up from my previous attempt so no great loss to toss it
out.
