Does anyone use an actual water temperature taken from a sensor on a water hose? Or are you just using the sensor from the block as water temp?

I have not flown my plane yet, but ground runs show a higher, and climbing, in-hose temp than the block temp.

Hi Trey,
I placed my temp sensor in the hose at the bottom of the firewall and it was good for telling when the thermostat opened.
Things would perk along at ambient for a while, then about 5 minutes in, the temps would rise steadily to the thermostat setting.
Getting a read higher than the block temp is probably because the thermostat is at the outgoing end of the block and the head sensor is at
the other end. I’d rationalize that the water was closer to the hottest area just before the thermostat opened and that was the reading you
got. See link, http://www.macsmachine.com/images/subaruengine/small/hose-connector-with-pressur.gif

Good luck,

Larry McFarland
