Hello Graham, Thanks for the pictures; You wrote:
1) "...tire valve plug..."
I have fiddled around with both the almost flat plastic hole plugs and the
slighty raised stamped metal plugs for the tire inflation holes in my wheel
pants.
I've had trouble prying the flat plastic hole plugs back out of the hole,
and trouble with the raised stamped metal plugs not fitting in flush with
the surface of the wheel pants. Also have had trouble coming up with the
largish size hole plugs needed. I like the idea of the rubber one -- I
wonder if I could find one large enough in white?
The best thing that I have found is the flat metal Tinnerman Inspection /
Patch Plate, part number A6914-1024-1 (we used to call them bullet hole
patches). They come primed with zinc chromate, so they can be painted to
match, have a mounting strap across the back, and a machine screw in the
center to hold them in place.
But Aircraft Spruce no longer shows them in their catalog and I can't even
find a picture of one on the internet anymore.
2) "And one of the Trim Servo ..."
First time I've seen the trim tab mechanism completely enclosed -- no horn
sticking out. A really clever guy this Duane Robinson -- I am sorry that he
was not part of our group when we were building. He could have saved us a
lot of time and work.
