We are dealing with a pressure carb here not a float carburetor. If it was in series with a mechanical pump that is not turning, then it would not allow fuel pressure for starting. Be sure to use an electric pump with the built in check valve. They make them both ways. The built in check valve style for 24v is P/N 40194. The 12v part number is 40176. Both are available from Aircraft Spruce.
If you plan to use a fuel flow gage then put it at the outlet of the of the de-bubbler.
The M14P carb has an extra fitting by the fuel inlet. In some cases people use this to measure the fuel pressure.
As usual on a fuel pressure line we recommend a restrictor in the line at the point where it is measured. Usually a rivet installed in the flair fitting as a plug with a 1/16 or smaller hole in it. If the flexible hose to measure fuel pressure were to break then the indicated pressure would go to zero and alarm the pilot, but stuffiest pressure would remain to keep the engine running.
