I'm in the process of designing and getting the materials for a carbon fiber
plenum. I want the look of the carbon fiber rather than the fiberglass.
Questions:
1. Resin: High temp? Suggestions? Source?
2. Carbon fiber: Weave? Thickness? Source?
3. Laying it up: Vacuum bag? Release agents? How many layers of carbon
fiber? How to get a good looking outer surface (the inner surface of the plenum
will be the smoothest since I'm planning to lay it up over a smooth form
[plug]).
4. Drilling holes (after the resin has set up) for nutplates? No problem
with this re the fiber?
5. Any ideas for covering the nutplates with filler material and a second
lay up of fiber and resin to smooth out the interior of the plenum to keep air
turbulence down?
6. Websites or previous post suggestions would be also helpful--thanks!
