Please spread the word: I'm offering my Zenith 601HDS project
for sale. The plane was started back in 1999 C was built from
a factory kit by-the-book by a skilled and patient craftsman in
his early thirties C then got stuck in the "90% done C 90% to go"
phase several years ago as a result of increasing demands
of my day job.
The airframe is mostly completed C sitting on wheels in the
garage. It has the forward-opening canopy and the wing tanks
like the XL C but no flaps and bungee gear. (Incidentally C this
design never had flutter issues C caveat emptor.)
I have a Jabiru 2200 engine new in crate as shipped from the
factory C and the FWF kit. (What it lacks in power relative to
the bigger 3300 it makes up for in greatly reduced weight...)
All told I have about 600 hours of work into it. I estimate it will
take another 200 hours of work to mount the engine and finish
the wiring and plumbing C which would result in a minimalist flying
configuration. With the upcoming changes in my work situation
I simply don't have the time to complete the project C find it a
home and get all the paperwork finished--I decided I'd rather
be flying during the little free time I have C so my loss is your
gain.
I invested over $30000 into the project so far. I'm asking
$24000 for everything C including the various special tools.
If there are no takers for the whole package by the end of
the summer I will entertain reasonable offers for parts.
