I have done the same thing as you have on my 701. It appears to be a

common problem. If there is a better solution, I sure am open to it.

I'm not sure this solution is appropriate , but a few of my friends who own 701's, have encountered the same problem. I was told that they solved the issue, by removing the two triangler shaped plates that hold the horizontal tail bellcrank at the rear of the torque tube, and re-installed the plates right next to the tube, on it's own, home made metal bracket, no longer being an integral part of the tube.

Now the pressure is equal on both sides, and not only can they tighten to the correct tension on the cables, but the stick is also neutral when it's moved back and forth, with no unequal pressure on either side.

Hope this helps

I was asked a little while back to post a few pic's of the modification, so here they are.

In the second photo, ( rod1 ) you can clearly see that the triangular plates were removed from the tube, and relocated to a reinforcement channel, over the original tube, thereby eliminating any interference between the two control surfaces, when either is moved.

Hope this helps
