Talked to the guy on the phone. He has a true ZERO time engine that was
one of the original "spares" that shipped with the Sukes back in the
day. It has the IRIS on the front and a B&C small Alternator/PMG on it.
He is also selling what looks to be a new 2 blade V-530, but no logs on
that.

Sadly, he knows what he has in his hands, so "it ain't gonna go cheap".

It was manufactured in 1990 and has been sitting ever since (17 years)

The bids are up to $25,000. I almost think Id spring the extra $4000 for a new one.

It's already sold, but the "sorta" hidden factor on this was that the
deal also included the standard Vperiod 2 blade prop, which was also
apparently new, but had no log books. That prop alone was worth a few
thou. It also had the B&C PMG, which is worth a little as well. Also a
prop spinner, and also the Moose engine mount, and also a Sukhoi Iris.
Add that up and even 30 thou would have been a fair price.

Mark

P.s. I bid on it as well and called the gent on the phone.

Hi Milt,

Do you remember the original sale price? I wonder if you can look it up
somewhere on eBay?

Thank you -- for a new M14P, that sounds like a great price to me, too bad
I've already purchased mine.

If anyone would like a set of the cowl nose rings included with the Ebay sale engine, I have two more sets available. Outer and inner pair, spun 6061-0, for riveted or welded cowl construction. They form a nose with an inlet like an SU or 52TD or the Kimball glass cowl for the Model 12.

It's back for a 3rd time, not much bidding this time. Wonder what the problem is.

Please note, the damaged 52 is NOT a 52W as advertised. I have written to
the eBay seller and advised the seller they may want to consider revising
the ad since the first 52W was manufactured in 1991 and the photos clearly
show the original Russian instruments.

I should have said manufactured in 1999, NOT 1991. My bad.

I think that on big ticket items at ebay you get higher percentage of
scammers and flakes that bid for things then try to get "creative" when it
comes time to actually complete the transaction. If running an auction like
that its probably best to run a longer auction and contact each bidder to
"qualify" them and cancel the bids of those you cannot contact or obviously
will not be able to pay.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

A word of caution on the guy selling the M-14. I bid and was the high bidder on two previous auctions that he had on this same engine. He would not respond to my emails after the auction ended either time. Now he is apparently saying that I didn't pay on the first auction (I didn't meet the reserve.) However, I did attempt to contact him to see how much more he wanted. He would not reply or return my phone calls. He also claims his second auction got hijacked. This is not true, at least from my perspective. The auction terminated normally with me as the high bidder.

He may be legit but I would be very wary about dealing with him.

Well it seems my previous post about scammers on Ebay big ticket items can
apply to BOTH sides of the auction...

I've bought and sold cars, boats, engines, and planes on e bay without a hitch, but it seems M14s on ebay are ripe for scams.
Just listed my M14 as a core after a prop strike. Sat with very few bids until the last 5 minutes then in a flurry of activity the bidding went up to a price that < to me, was unreasonably high for an engine that needed at least a teardown and inspection. Several of the interested bidders were from the Yak, M14, and Murphy Moose lists.. The high bidder was a name I did not recognize with a poor feedback record. Alan Davidson (usr_ad is his e bay name) of Chantilly Virginia. He really got innappropriate and of course did not pay. His feedback profile suggested he would behave exactly as he did. I wouldn't be surprised if he (whoever he really is) played a role in the last M14 fiasco on e bay.

Hi Milt,

One really wonders what is going on ! ? This guy is blaming you ????? He
says that he won this auction before ?? Unreal that is for sure.

Anyway, I could finally talk to my partner Philip early this morning.
He seems as happy as I am Surprised)
There was only one thing that made me surprised. I told him that you are
getting a quote for the shipping, so that we know the total amount, and
he goes : that will be something between 250 and 500 bucks ! I was very
surprised, but he said that it would come by truck, and that was what he
paid before. ( That was before we even knew each other )
Now I am a bit confused. What we like in regard of shipping, just
regular shipping, nothing expedited or express or anything like
that........
The engine would be in a wooden box right ?
All I ever did was shipping an engine from here to Virginia. An 0-320 in
a wooden box. With brokerage fees and all it came below 500 dollars.
Now of course there is a big margin between 500 and 2000 bucks Surprised(
Anyway I am looking forward to find out, how much the quote is you will
be getting.

Have a nice day !
Peter
