Fellow Europaphiles:
I just hung the engine.  I can find no information on the nut, washer, lock washer needed to attach the electrical connection from the starter solenoid to the starter.  I'd appreciate any assistance in pointing me to the appropriate page of the build or engine installation manual or other document with this information.  Were they supplied with either the main kit or the engine installation kit?    No doubt it they are metric bits so I won't have anything on hand in the parts bin to use.   I'm sure I can order them from Lockwood or McMaster-Carr if I can get the proper specs.

Any help would sure be appreciated.

Good building and great flying,
Bob Borger

Hi Bob,

In the original package was a box marked 914, and that contained amongst other goodies the nuts and washers for the starter relay. There are also some small pins and seal to connect the ignition off leads in the plug on the ignition boxes. There is also an empty (no pins) connector for the voltage regulator. Hope you find that box Smile

Kind Regards,

Jos,

I have all of the 914 installation hardware from the 914 box. I have gone through it and the remainder of the engine installation kit and have not found a suitable set of nut and washer(s).

I'm looking for either a Europa part number if it is supplied by Europa or a Rotax part number if it was supplied by Rotax with the engine.

I guess I need to dig up my inventory sheet from the original delivery to see if there is anything listed on it.

All else failing, I'd appreciate it if someone could provide the appropriate specs for the nut, size & thread pitch so I can locate a suitable replacement.

Good building and great flying,

Hi Bob,

The Installation Manual latest edition says on pages 94-95
"M6 screw (tightening torque 4 Nm (35 in.lb))"
Be careful, as the previous edition was giving 8 Nm (70 in.lb).
This edition is downloadable from the Rotax Owner site of the
"Downloads" page on my website

http://contrails.free.fr/download.php

Of course you just need the metric M6 nuts. M6 means 6 mm diameter, 1 mm
pitch. As for the washer, it needs a 6 mm internal diameter.
Hope this helps,

Merry Christmas and Happy New year,
Regards,
Gilles

Gilles,

Thanks muchly! My version of the 914 Installation Manual is old and does not contain quite as much information detail.

Dean (Lockwood School) said that Rotax was making great improvements in their documentation. This is a good example.

Perhaps I can find even find a Rotax part number for the nut and washer.

Joyeux Noël et nouvelle année heureuse!
