Hi Bob et al

I have been reading Aeroelectric resources on the cause of the galloping alternator issue, and how to fix. I just want to verify that the circuit where a too-high resistance will cause an oscialltion is this one (yellow):

CORRECT

And that a differential diagnosis is that the problem goes away on temporary connection of the red wire - have I understood that correctly?

CORRECT

Forgive my tardiness but I suspect you've
already confirmed your hypothesis independently.

This was a common problem on single aircraft
with solid state regulators on alternators.
Not so much with the legacy electro-mechanical
regulators but STILL POSSIBLE.

The APPROVED fix would be to renew all hardware
and wiring between the bus and the B terminal
of the regulator. The FOREVER fix would be to
replace as cited but use heavier lead wire.
14AWG would be great. No need to upsize the
breaker . . . the existing breaker will more
than adequately protect a larger wire.

Let us know what you find out . . .
