What actuator did you choose? How much current does
it draw?
Was this a off-the-shelf actuator? Are you confident
in the mechanical robustness of the device? If
this on adjusts stabilizer angle by raising and
lowering leading edge, then potential for any
mechanical disconnect needs to be completely
eliminated.
Whether on a Luscombe or MD80, this event
is catastrophic.

Generally benign if even present. Trim ops
a infrequent and short. Potentially vulnerable
systems were ADF receivers.
Here's a simple system designed both pitch and
roll trim with a 'coolie-hat' stick switch.
Works with dpdt (on)-off-(on) rocker too for
just one trim motor.
