I have mostly used Z1 with the B&C Alternator controller. I have the “BUS” wire connected to terminal 6 protected with a 5 amp breaker on the panel as illustrated.

I am now preparing the POH and would like to know under what scenarios I would want to “PULL” the breaker.

Thanks

Mike

I would suggest none while you are flying.
If you need to turn off the electrics you would use the master switch.
During maintenance to depower the alternator field.

It will run down your battery and make the alternator very warm during extended master-on/engine-off situations.

Mike, If you had an external power transient (lightning strike) it is possible that in order to regain alternator output, you might have to reset the alternator field breaker.
