All I know is Etienne was alone at the time. He had had problems starting his 52, but had communicated that the problem had been found and had to do with poor connections of the starter coil. For whatever reason he was hit by his propellor. Don’t know why. Devastating loss.

With the problem being related to the starting coil, it is possible he was attempting to hand prop the airplane? Or possibly he left the mag switch on and was pulling the prop through at the time to clear any potential hydraulic lock?

Regardless of how it happened, it is a great loss to our community. May he rest in peace with God. He will be missed.

Yes Dennis, a great loss.Technically correct but at the moment everything is speculation regarding the circumstances. One small consolation; there was another person with him, so he didn’t die alone. I’ll refrain from making any other comments for the time being.
R.I.P Etienne.

Perfect antwoord, Steve!

All the best,
JM
