I spotted this instrument a few months ago
and noted that it was capable of BOTH AC
and DC, clamp-on current measurements.
Practical DC measurement has been sorta the final
frontier in clamp-on DC current measurement.

I have a couple of early examples that
clamp around a DC power feeder but they
proved finicky and not very satisfying
for accuracy.

Fluke and Tektronix have offered clamp
on DC measurement tools for decades but
not a prices attractive to frugal
wire slingers.

Ran across offers for this critter a
few months ago:

https://tinyurl.com/yeju6nrz

I've been using it in the shop for several
months and found the DC current feature
to well behaved and accurate at readings
above 20A . . . but still very useful
below that value.

There are several versions but the "D"
version, while the most expensive, measures
everything including the kitchen sink. Poked
around and found it advertised at a fair
range of prices. This citation is one of
the lowest.

I recommend this critter as an excellent value.
I'll update the List on future observations
for utility.

On the linked webpage, it says that "There is a newer version of this item".
The newer version costs $90 and measures inrush current and mentions VFD
(Variable Frequency Drive?) and LOZ Mode, whatever that is.
Those additional features might not be useful for aircraft. No sense paying
for unneeded features. The basic meter for $48 is affordable. Thanks Bob.

One trick I learned when Amazon first came out was before buying ANYTHING, I check the manufacturer's website. Instead of $90 or $48 how about $37.50?
