Need value for money recommendations iro voltage regulator for 12v full glass cockpit occasional IFR capable Experimental C172 ...60 amp ford type aircraft alternator fitted. 

Too many variations on a theme in the Spruce catalog....and some wild pricing to boot....

pick up something at the local auto parts store . . .

These regulators share much in common with
the electronic instruments market. Performing
well is not difficult. Parts are so easy
to manufacture that there's little
or nothing to be gained by seeking 'cheap'
production parts. These regulators
have always been paired with ov management
systems so the minuscule but non-zero
risk is easily mitigated.

Short answer is that there is little or
no extra value to be secured by
purchasing from legacy sources of
parts for TC aircraft.
