The list server blocked my first message. Said wrong file type attached but it was 3 small .jpg files.

If anyone wants to see them let me know and I will send them directly to your email address and bypass the list server

Hi Jay,

I don't know the exact layout of the Firestar 2 levers but here are some photos of how they fit on my Firefly. Maybe they will give you some ideas.

The "choke" is officially called the "enricher" since it does not choke the air but dumps extra fuel into the carb. I bought bulk cables that had the one end already swagged. Then I cut and fit to length. I had to make the cable to lever fittings for both cables as none came with the kit nor the engine. (I found a used engine that had been well pickled at 13 hours TT). I had a piece of flat aluminum that I cut the pieces from and just used a hacksaw and some files to get what I wanted.

Note on the carb end of both cables there is a rubber boot. It is important that this boot is in good condition because if it cracks it can leak air and lean out the mixture.  It is a pre-flight inspection item just like the carb to manifold boot.

I have more photos, and the plane is here at home so I can take pictures of anything else you would like to see.

Hope this helps.

I have 2 planes, 1 old Firestar 2 that came with a 12hr 447 (it's from the early 90's so I tore it down and put all new seals in it), then a newer Firestar 2 kit with no engine that I am getting near the covering stage. Unfortunately I didn't get any throttle nor choke cables with the plane that had the engine.

Can anyone point me to the correct throttle cable used in a Kolb Firestar 2 with a 447? I'm not sure what I need nor where to get it, same goes for the choke cable.

Does anyone have a photo of how the choke cable attaches to the Bing carb on a 447? My CGS Hawk with a 447 had the choke lever right on the carb but I see in the Kolb plans they remote it to the cockpit area and my Bing that I have has the choke lever removed at the carb and there's just a little post sticking up that I assume attaches to a cable.

I'd ask Kolb but I have called in the past and left messages, I have emailed, and I have texted different questions but I never get any response from them so I'm asking here. Are they still in business?

Thanks,
Jay
