Sometimes messages to Bob are missing, but none others.

That's where I've been going to see the missing messages. I'm set up to get individual emails from the list, the way everyone did back in prehistoric times before web-based forums. After Matt added the web-based format, we were allowed to keep various forms of email delivery, or move to the forum format. I chose to stay with email format because it's a 'push' type system; I don't (normally) need to remember to actively sign in to a web site to see messages because they show up in my email inbox.
Another inconsistency is that Matt's 'boilerplate' that appears at the bottom of most messages doesn't show up in some users' messages. For instance, it shows up with your messages (I snipped it out for this reply), but it never shows up in Bob's messages. I've assumed that it was due to some of us being on email delivery and some of us using the forum format, but I have no way to verify that.

Joe - thanks for the URL, but I do not have any trouble seeing all messages when I use a web browser.

I normally read messages using my local e-mail client which downloads, to my own machine, messages from my several e-mail accounts and presents them all for reading in one place. It seems that either my e-mail client or the Matronics mail server has some sort of occasional blind spot, and a message is not downloaded to my own machine.

It doesn’t seem to happen all that frequently, so I don’t want to adopt the habit of daily going off to look at the Matronics messages in a web browser, just on the off-chance that (as far as my mail client is concerned) a message might have disappeared.

For anyone who would like to do some detective work, my environment is:
Mac Mini M1
Mac OS Monterey v12.3.1
Mac Mail v16.0

in friendship
