Hello, I’m a new happy owner of an Xs, and recently bought an Mgl efis fo upgrade my panel. I wanted that mostly to use a fuel flow and a flaps controller. (To keep an hand on the switch to move the flaps is not very secure in my mind...)
The problem is that the flap actuator doesn’t seem to have a potentiometer...This is bad because the efis needs a flaps position information...
Is someone had ever added a potentiometer or replaced the actuator?
Emmanuel

Hi Emmanuel,

I fitted a slider type potentiometer to my XS to allow my Dynon Skyview EFIS to display the flap position. I've attached a picture. You can get them from suppliers like RS Components. I just drilled a small hole in the flap arm to attach the slider arm and then bonded the unit to the fuselage.

Hope this helps.

Carl

I don't mean to be flippant, but is it not easier to just look at the flaps? Certainly more reliable!

It is, but I wanted an indicator that I could clearly see at night and in IMC conditions because I've applied for the removal of the VFR restriction on my Europa.
