If not mistaken, I believe Doug Sapp or was it Jim Shelby that had one at one time.

Sorry, no, Jim and I have Yak 18 or CJ5, which looks sort of like a 2 place Yak 50 with a 5 cylinder bump cowl.  The Yak 12 is a high wing 260 hp 4 place aircraft.  I think Joe Howse or victoria Air Maint. had one.

We have imported a few from the East into the UK over the years. They are great aircraft; incredibly slow but with huge lifting capacity and very STOL.

Also made in Poland as the PZ L Gawron.

If you drop me a mail of-list I can put you directly in touch with one of the principal owners here.

But in terms of general issues of importation and registration – under your fantastic "experimental" legislation it is very simple; no problem to have the aircraft accepted and, apart from possible state sales tax, no duties going into the US.

Jim Cook, who lives in/near Auburn, AL has one.  His email address is:
JCook89714(at)aol.com (JCook89714(at)aol.com)

I'm copying Jim on this email just in case he monitors the Yak list.
