I have just completed the FAB on my RV-6 and instructions say to put the
seal on the front of the inlet on the FAB side.
With the way the cowling goes on (from the bottom) would it not make more
sense to attach the bottom of the seal to the inlet on the cowling and the
top of the seal on the FAB?
Any reason this could not be done or am I overlooking something?

				Ed,

I put my seals on per the plans (RV-6) and it works ok as long as there is
enough gap between the end of the inlet on the cowl and the front edge of
the FAB. I always have to push the bottom part down around the lip of the
inlet when I install the lower cowl. I think your suggestion might work
pretty well and, from my experience, it probably would make the lower cowl
easier to install. You just need to ensure that you get a pretty good seal
all the way around the lip on the cowling.

				Warren,
 Thanks for your input.
I understand the need for a good seal (and fit) so that is what made me
think thatif I put the bottom seal on the cowling side, it will fit without
 pushing it over the edge.
If I use a small strip of alluminum (as with the front of the bottom baffle
inlet) to attach the fabric seal and have that about 1" over the top on both
 sides it should work.
The horizontal top seal will then fit tightly in between.
I am just thinking that it will be easier to install the cowling that way.
 What do you think?
 Thanks again-Ed.

I'm sure it would be easier to install the cowling. I dread having to pull off and install the lower cowling. If you are successful with your idea, I would like to see some pictures as I might modify mine.
