Hi all,

Is it necessary to invest in a rivet squeezer and blind hole locator or do the DIY pliers and #40 hole finder (strap duplicator) work fine for the whole project? I will need them soon for trailing edge solid rivets and wing root skin.

Regards,

Perry

Perry, I picked up an economical rivet squeezer from one of the aviation tool supply houses(Avery I think) for a fairly reasonable price. It may work to squeeze the soft trailing edge rivets with modified pliers but for the cost, the proper tool worked so easy it was well worth the price.

I think this is the squeezer I ended up using.

Hi Doug,

Do you have order inserts with the squeezer, or is the bare tool all you need.

Perry

You'll need inserts too.

I couldn't squeeze mine by hand and make them look decent. If they don't look nice it will reflect on the quality look of your airplane.

I had the same experience: it is definitely worthwhile to make the
investment!
