I'm not asking for another page of an explanation but....
If the primary of a transformer i.e. coil... is energized AND the primary winding fails, i.e opens....then the field will collapse onto the secondary and you WILL have a high voltage discharge.
I am not commenting on the rest of this thread, or the problem being discussed herewith.
