Hi John,
thanks for putting the pics up. Beautiful.

The lovely pictures on the list lately are really reawakening my interest in
photography.
I have been looking on ebay to see what I can raise on my old Olympus OM1
and my Canon EOS Xlite with their long lenses. The answer seems to be
.....not much.

My only foray into digital has been a little point and shoot about as big as
a pack of cigarettes. OK for close up `snaps` but obviously not good enough
for the sort of pictures you are producing.

I have already had a recomendation for a Panasonic 5 meg. 12x optical zoom
and I have found a good price on the net. What do you use?. I assume that
to take pics from a cockpit you need a certain amount of automatic set up
to take place.

What about some thoughts from some others on the list about equipment. There
are onviously some pretty expert people out there.

Pat

I use a Nikon Coolpix 8800, Pat, and love it, but recently my cousins wanted
to buy a serious camera each for their son and daughter and wanted a
recommendation. The Nikon is pretty spendy, and I'd be happier with a
couple of upgrades. After a lot of research, I recommended the Fuji S9000
to them, and the Panasonic FZ30 as a 2nd choice. They bought the S9000's
and love them. Very nice, very capable camera at a fairly reasonable price.
When Nikon comes out with a camera equal to the 8800, but with manual focus
and zoom, along with better low light action capability, I'll grab one in a
heartbeat at whatever price they put on it. Take a look at
www.dpreview.com and look at the various tests and especially the forums. I
spend a lot of time on the Nikon Talk forum, and there's a forum for most
popular cameras. Lar.

P.S. This is the kind of thing where many people have strong opinions,
and it'd be hard to say anyone is all right or all wrong.
