I flew into LBT Sunday AM. There were about 5 RV's and one F1 Rocket there today. The crowd was very sparse, maybe 3000 folks, but the airswhow was great. Just don't know how they can keep this up if the attendance keeps dropping.
Got 10 RV's for the airshow at Ft Jackson (KCUB)on Saturday, including three Falcon Flight members from Texas, several from Team RV in Atlanta and the local Palmetto Flight. It was really turbulent, but everyone hung in there and we put on a good show. Thanks to James Clark for all the advance work. The accomodations, food, fuel, transportation and hospitality were all GREAT!

MessageJust got back from the Mid-Atlantic and everybody was asking me "Where are all the RVs?", so you guys were missed. The most interesting thing I saw there was a P-47 Thunderbolt in flight - first one that I had ever seen flying. A P-51, A-26, a Navy SkyRaider, a T-6 and some turbine powered low wing with USAF markings - I presume one of their trainers.
Attendance, was down, although Saturday brought out a fair size crowd of aircraft, but I'll bet there were not 10,000 attendees compared to their estimate of 50,000 the first year.
Still, a lot of great folks and Rowan County EAA chapter continued to serve excellent breakfast and lunch at - most reasonable prices. Great bunch of folks.

Yes, there was reportedly 50,000 attendees at the first one. I think when
they booted the Sun & Fun experienced guy Dale Faux , they may have made a
mistake. That guy was known by and had credibility with the vendors which
the local folks simply do not have. In fact, this year there was not even a
vendors tent - they had one last year, but very few vendors in it.
The did have an interesting set of LSA aircraft there, some really neat
looking - but all too expensive for me. There was even a NEW descendent
from the Aeronica Champ with a really nice interior - only $89,000 with a
118 HP engine. I'd like to have one to put around in but my putting fund is
a bit on the slim side.
