Hello,

I'm wondering what hardware is used to hold the choke cable to the carburetor choke lever. In the Rotax parts for the carb, it doesn't show the part I'm referring to. Below are a couple of images of what I'm talking about. I'm sure there are home-brew ways to get it working but wanted to see what works best.

Thank you,
Kyle

Hi Kyle
We have a 914 with type 64 carbs. The choke arm has a slot in one of the sides. The unit I have is meant for a cable with a swedged end barrel. I tried using the barrels that came with my FWF kit with no joy. For starters the OD of the barrel was too small, but that wasn't the entire story. Because using a barrel where you use a fastener to hold the cable in place has the end of the cable sticking out of one side where if you had a swedged end there would be no tail. No matter what I tried when using a barrel, 1 out of a dozen actuations the tail would get caught in the slot and not allow the choke to fully close. This is not a good thing because if choke is opened just a little at higher power settings it will make the mixture lean.
I ended up making a Brass barrel out of a Hex where it in fact it now has a head. This holds thinks nicely captured where the tail can't get caught in the slot. Another builder installed a McFarland throttle and choke cables and I think it does a similar thing (not positive) to hold the barrel inboard to keep the tail from getting hung up in the slot.
Here's a link to my Type 64 install:
https://1drv.ms/f/s!Ah1S270Nwg9VgeE0IvqA5O_QBKWt3g?e=aRlmfJ
You probably have to copy and paste URL because for whatever reason Matronics breaks it up.
Using Purple Loctite on the setscrew.
Note the throttle stops on the throttle housing mounting screws. It allows adjusting idle from the cockpit. I wasn't sure how much cam action I might need so I made 2 with different offsets.

Kyle,

We use simple swivels from ACS,

https://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalog/appages/wireswivels.php?clickkey=6170

If they are a little loose doesn't seem to be a problem.

I think Lockwood and LEAF have similar available.

Hello Ron,

Impressive setup both on the cable barrel and the in cockpit idle adjustment. Might have to see if the idle adjustment can be fitted to what I have already completed.

Also for links or images in Matronics use the following to help with posting:
Code:
Surround your image link with the bracket and img and escape with the same but prefix with /, no quotes. [img]"link to image"[/img]

Code:
Same for links/url use [url="link of interest"]My Page[/url] Replace My Page with whatever you want. eg: [url=https://1drv.ms/f/s%21Ah1S270Nwg9VgeE0IvqA5O_QBKWt3g?e=aRlmfJ]Ron's One Drive Page.[/url]

Ron's One Drive Page.
However, your link and has an ! in it which this site's bbcode as a limitation with. You have to convert punctuation to code. ! = %21 in URL formatting.

Good BBCode guide here.

Hello Jim,

This is exactly what I was looking for! Something simple to install. I have two sets of choke cables, one came with the used engine with trimmed lengths (not using) and the other with the kit. Both don't have stoppers, barrels, 'ends', terminal, etc.... on them. I have no idea what the technical term is for it but you get my point.

Thank you,
Kyle

After a little more digging I found this at Leading Edge Air Foils LLC for anyone else looking for one.

Hi Kyle
Thank You for info on OneDrive Link.

Here's an example of barrel that was supplied with kit, also I purchased some from ACS and Lockwood that were the same as one supplied with kit. Don't use this style on a Rotax 9xx:
(url=https://1drv.ms/i/s%21Ah1S270Nwg9VgeJJYLAg2aAvtY2I4Q?e=Bm9EAA) Dont use this barrel on a Rotax 9XX choke cable. (/url)

In case the above link doesn't work:
https://1drv.ms/i/s!Ah1S270Nwg9VgeJJYLAg2aAvtY2I4Q?e=Bm9EAA
Copy and paste full link.

Hi Kyle

OK can make link work without description and on Tiny.

What am I doing wrong adding description and just getting a hyperlink with only description name:
[url]https://1drv.ms/i/s%21Ah1S270Nwg9VgeJJYLAg2aAvtY2I4Q?e=Bm9EAADont use this barrel on a Rotax 9XX choke cable.[/url]

I would like the hyperlink to be:
Dont use this barrel on a Rotax 9XX choke cable

Even better:
Don't use this barrel on a Rotax 9XX choke cable

Thx for taking the time to educate an idiot!
