Going through the POH I noticed anew that the PLAAF recommends pulling the nose up sharply at ~50kts and doing a two point roll to take off.

However, my F-18 pilot GIB tells me it makes no sense as there is less lift and more drag.
Does anyone know what the POH rationale is?? Soft fields? Short fields, wear and tear on the nose wheel, looks cool?? Smile
Thanks,
Phil Nicholson

Yep sounds daft to me. I think you are taking the Chinglish to literally. I think the intent is to ease the load on the nose wheel by some back pressure.

I think you are correct!
But out of about 3600 hours less than 300 are on aircraft with the 3rd.
wheel at the right end so what do I know?

I just lift the NW a bit when I'm going in the right direction and let it
fly off when it's ready. Seems to work!
The attached I think shows it close to lift off. Note the elevator
position.

Cheers
