As per the title, please. Can they be swapped? Our front one has failed and we removed and blanked the rear a couple of years ago.

Sorry, the gear selectors cannot be swapped. Give Doug Sapp a call, and he’ll provide you with a replacement for the front gear valve.

Thanks, I thought that was the case. We have one available on our field as we need it in a hurry so we'll stick that on and get the other refurbed.

No. The rear is significantly different. The front and the two flap selectors are identical.

Thanks, Dennis. Have I misunderstood or are you saying the rear flap selector is the same as the front gear selector?

In a CJ6A the QSF-2A (3 port valve) are used in the following positions:Front gear valve
Front flap valve
Rear flap valve
12-5522-00 (5 port valve) is used:
Only in the rear gear valve position
The 5 port valve and the 3 port valves are interchangeable with those used in the Yak 52.
Hope this helps,
Doug

Byron is correct, they are not interchangeable. We highly recommend that anyone changing their QSF-2A or the 12-5522-00 (3 or 5 port valve) add the new "Final Filter" when installing the new valve.
There are basically only two things which kill these valves-- water and grit.  This is NOT a desiccant filter so it will not stop moisture, you should already have a desiccant filter installed to do that job.
This new stainless steel filter is attached directly to the valve body in the air IN port, and will stop 100% of any junk (rust or grit) from getting into the new valve.  As many of you have noticed, the price of these valves has risen considerably in the past year and if you pay attention to the daily news about Trump and his trade war it should give us all the encouragement we need  to be a bit proactive in extending the useful life of these valves.  Keeping the air DRY and CLEAN is the very important, that being done will assure that these valves will last for many years.
Best,
Doug

Doug,

Are you able to supply the final filters separately?

Yes, of course, I did not mean to imply otherwise.
