Hi all

Just wondering has anyone else experienced a choke that is next or near impossible to pull. I’ve installed a new choke and cables that I got from Karen, cables move fine when not connected to the carbs, each individual choke mechanism on each carb also move fine but when connected up the whole lot is very very stiff, nearly to the point of it being impossible to pull !

Any ideas ?

Kind Regards
Eoin

Widest gentlest cable curves possible? But you've already done that, no doubt. Sorry I've nothing more inspirational to offer.

The key is to make sure the bowden cables are well lubricated. The best is to remove the cables from their sheath and lubricate full length with automotive gearbox or engine oil. Also keep the 90° elbows of the carbs well lubricated.

Eoin,
I missed your email on the list.

In my troubleshooting guide I explain the choke friction problem. I did a post a few weeks ago on my T handle to add some grip to the handle and not having the knob pull off.

Please read my troubleshooting guide on line.  www.customflightcreations.com techniques section under engine related.
Lube on the cable helps, but making sure the cables are left long and loopy, see photo’s on how I run the cables, then smooth the 90 degree bent tube nice and smooth. I summarized this in the cable etiquette article attached also.

Best Regards,

Hi all

Just a quick thanks to everyone that answered back about the sticky choke cable....seems to have improved with a long loop and lubing up the cable.

Kind Regards
Eoin
