Even tho we're planning to sell our Glasair this year (glasairforsale.freevar dot com), I'm thinking of trying a LRI.

Now, when I was beta testing the RiteAngle (true) Angle of Attack Indicator for Elbie M, we found that his vane had to be mounted about 12 inches below the wing in order for the vane to get clean air during stall.

The probe for the LRI extends about 6 inches down. I'm wondering if that's enough.

So, anyone flying an LRI on a Glasair that can tell me? (I remember that Lyle Powell used to tell people to drill two holes into their leading edge for a similar LRI type solution. But except for perhaps one, none of the Glasair pilots I talked to at OSH who had tried it seemed impressed with the pressure port location on the leading edge of the wing.)

Thanks,

Mike Palmer <><
