A GPS solution ....If you have an Android based smartphone, there's an aviation navigation application. (If you don't have a smartphone, this could be an excuse to get one

I'm considering getting one of these, anyone here have any first hand experience ?

I've used an app called "Open Flight GPS" that looks similar. It works
ok, but lacks altitude information. It's nice to have, but certainly no
replacement for a Garmin 496. I'll have to check this out!
