Hey Pulsar owners,



Got home excited to get moving on bringing my Pulsar to a flying state. Hard is it was, this meant removing the engine to change out the firewall for stainless amongst other things. I got the engine out yesterday and found much to my dismay, that cabin heat was being pulled directly from the airflow passing from inside the cowl through the rads! In other words, if there was an exhaust leak co2 would be blown directly into the cockpit. Not good.



Since I'm in this deep, I may as well fix everything I can. So I'm looking for ideas how any one else has done this.

That is the standard arrangement for Pulsars. It has worked very well for me. Inspect your exhaust for cracks before every flight, bring a CO detector and close the cabin heat if there is CO.

My cabin heat comes from a small (6" square)  aluminium heat exchanger (radiator) in the cockpit with a small fan  attached to it (computer type fan). The heat exchanger is fed directly from the  main engine coolant flow with a 5/8" take off point just before the main rad.  and a return just after it. When i want heat I just turn the fan on. It doesn't  make the cockpit hot but it is sufficient in a UK winter to make flying a  pleasure not a pain! I tried taking hot air from the exhaust can but really  didn't like the idea that much and it let a lot of noise into the cockpit  too.
