Hi Vince-



IIRC, when I did mine, the side with the trim tab would just about balance without trimming the weight and before paint.  With paint, it won't be able to balance itself.  Hence I would recommend waiting until after paint and do the two sides together.  This was with the electric trim servo in the elevator.

lead weights) or as a completed unit connected to the push rods and control

column.
