				Hello All,

I am plans building the 601xl wings and have just completed my
first (right) wing after starting on the wing with the rib form
blocks on 10/22/06. Plans building takes it's time but I have
learned a lot and except for the welding of the tanks and the
fiberglass wing tips made all parts myself.
The resulting right wing has the aileron with trim attached but
the flap has been removed. Further on the wing has a tip light
and strobe (no electronics), landings lights and the heated
AOA/Pitot tube. Internal surfaces have been treated (especially
the contact surfaces) with ZnCr. The total assembly weighted in
at 39.0 kg (or 86.0 lbs).

Maarten, just wondering, did you install trim, lights, pitot etc. on the right wing for weight distribution purposes?

				Hi Maarten,

Are you planning to add the power supply for the strobe at a later time?

The strobes supplied by ZAC include a separate power supply for each
strobe light. This allows a short set of wires between the flash
tube and power supply which is advantageous from a radio noise point
of view. Perhaps the single supply approach works well too, but it
would certainly require shielded wire to the flash tubes.

				Hello Terry,

With the trim and pitot yes, I assume that many times I will
be flying alone and even if I have a passenger she (he) is
likely to be lighter. In that case any mass on the right side
will help. I have a heated Dynon pitot so I can keep the
option open to certify for IFR without opening up the wing
(if I ever want to pursue an IFR license).
My plan is to have lights on both sides to I can wire up a
wig-wag light to have a create a good visibility for my craft.
I have had so many occasion where the ATC indicated traffic
that I never saw against the city background that I want to
 go for good visibility.
The second spar is now on the table so I officially started
 the second wing.

				Hello Paul,

I selected the nova electronics wing-tip light units, these
have a central control unit and shielded cables from that
unit to the two wing tips. I weighted the EMI causing radio
noise and requiring a shielded cable versus the additional
weight in the wing tips and decided for the central unit.
The Nav lights in this setup are both LED based.

				Hello Ron,

I just don't have such a nice electronic logbook, my book
is an old fashioned notebook with some of my pictures glued
in it. Looking back in the book I see that I started the
first form block in November 2006, but I actually started
placing ribs in the right spar in October 2007. So I should
be able to complete this wing before the end of the year.
